Utilizing transparent zlib compression on Btrfs had sped up the Compile Bench initial creation speed by 1.79x, but utilizing the new transparent LZO compression was 2.25x faster than utilizing no file-system compression (1.25x faster than zlib compression).

With IOzone's 8GB write test for 64Kb block sizes, Zlib led to a reported transfer speed that was 2.4x faster while the LZO compression algorithm with this IOzone benchmark was 9.06x greater.

When running just one Dbench client, there really was not any change in performance regardless of compression algorithm.
