Another finding of ours was in regards to the CPU fan speed, also monitored through the Phoronix Test Suite. While the Eee PC 1201N is not that loud, under Ubuntu Linux we found its CPU fan speed had not dynamically adjusted much. Even when switching from idling to video playback the CPU fan still spun at around 3,900 RPMs, though when the temperature is above 60 Celsius we would expect it to run fast in an effort to lower the operating temperature.

The thermal and battery power consumption metrics were also looked at as the graphics-magick test profile was run under Ubuntu Linux on the Samsung and ASUS Eee PC netbooks. Similar to the battery-power-usage results, the Eee PC 1201N had ran about 16°C warmer than the Samsung NC10 did when carrying out the same Linux tests.

The Eee PC 1201N also continued to draw significantly more power from its battery due to the dual-core Atom, NVIIDA graphics, and larger screen. Now onto the other performance results.
