In some tests like HMMer, forcing the CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS for "-O3 -march=native" does perform better, but most test profiles are already set to use "-O3 -march=native" anyways. While in the case of the HMMer test Arch Linux was much faster than Antergos and Ubuntu, Clear Linux still squeezed ahead.

With GMPbench, Arch Linux was slightly faster than Antergos but Ubuntu 17.10 had a slight advantage over those two. Clear Linux 20350 was 9.5% faster than Arch Linux as tested.

The TSCP chess benchmark was just over 2% faster on Arch over Antergos, with both in turn being faster than Ubuntu. But with this test Clear Linux out-of-the-box was still 4% faster than the second-pace Arch.

Arch Linux with the performance governor, optimized CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS in this test was much faster than Ubuntu and Antergos, but again Clear Linux came out ahead.
