Warsow was also benefiting greatly from 2D color tiling with noticeable performance improvements.

Hopefully in time for Mesa 8.1 the rest of the 2D color tiling issues will be ironed out, but at least it is in much better shape than it was in January and is in good shape aside from the few issues noted on the first page of this article.

Next up on Phoronix will be a comparison of the open-source stack with Radeon 2D color tiling enabled plus enabling other tweaks like PCI Express 2.0 support to see how close the Radeon Gallium3D performance can get to that of the proprietary AMD Catalyst driver.
