While the newest code with the Gallium3D Mesa driver came out far ahead than the Ubuntu 10.10 stock packages, when the resolution in Nexuiz was increased to 1920 x 1080, the frame-rate quickly dropped and became slower than Maverick's driver. The open-source drivers were far from providing a playable frame-rate for Nexuiz at 1920 x 1080 while the outdated Catalyst driver continued to run along.

With the ATI graphics testing on the ThinkPad last week, there was actually a drop in frame-rate at the lower resolution in Warsow when swap buffers wait was disabled with the latest code. However, with the Radeon X1800/X1900 graphics cards this time around, the newest code was much faster than what is found in Ubuntu 10.10 by default. With this particular test, on average the three graphics cards were 29% faster than the Ubuntu 10.10 stock ATI setup. The Linux 2.6.38 + Mesa 7.11-devel Gallium3D configuration was running at 67% the speed of the Catalyst driver.
