As for why the R300g performance also drops between Mesa 7.10 and Mesa 7.11 with the OpenArena game, that was also examined. The offending commit there is when the R300 Gallium3D driver implements fences using dummy relocations in 18b4978ac8d2fb9b4f0830f33267e36ffc67b89c.
