The AMD setups (even the older Phenom 9500 system) did better than the Intel Core i7 hardware when encrypting a 2GB file using GnuPG encryption.

At OpenSSL signing, the Phenom II X3 with its fourth core enabled and then the Phenom II X3 running at 3.51GHz were both able to outperform the Core i7 920.

The Phenom II X3 also did very well with its SQLite database performance in comparison to the Intel quad-core system.
