The Counter-Strike: Source raw performance you basically saw yesterday with the open-source Radeon Linux driver testing... The Radeon R9 290 came out in front followed by the HD 6870 graphics card on the mature R600 Gallium3D driver and then followed by the HD 7950 and R9 270X.

To no surprise the most power-hungry configuration tested was with the Radeon R9 290 Hawaii graphics card with this Core i7 Devil's Canyon system. The next most power-hungry configuration in this test was the Radeon HD 4890 graphics card from back in the day.

When determining the performance-per-Watt, the Radeon R7 260X and Radeon R9 270X are leading in power efficiency, which isn't too much of a surprise given their the latest-generation, mid-range GPUs. The perf-per-Watt was followed then by the HD 6870, HD 7850, HD 7950, and then finally the R9 290.

The Radeon R9 290 wasn't too warm while running Counter-Strike: Source but the hottest graphics cards were the Radeon HD 4850/4870 (RV770) graphics cards and then the passively-cooled Radeon HD 5450.
