AMD Fusion A8-3850 APU "Llano" On Linux
While the AMD Fusion A8-3850 lost out with OpenSSL, in the John The Ripper cryptography benchmarks the A8-3850 was incredibly strong. The A8-3850 was faster with the MD5 test than the i3 2100 and was approaching the i5 2500K.
On the Blowfish side of John The Ripper, the Fusion A8-3850 continued to be rather strong.
The level of OpenMP efficiency for the quad-core A8-3850 was slightly less than that of the Intel Sandy Bridge quad-cores (the i5 2500K is a true quad core where as the i3 2100 is a dual core with Hyper Threading).
While this was just a quick comparison until additional tests are completed, if you wish to see how your system compares to the Fusion A8-3850 and these other systems, you can easily do so using the Phoronix Test Suite and OpenBenchmarking.org. Just run: phoronix-test-suite benchmark 1107265-LI-1107253LI10 to fetch and compare all of these results in a side-by-side manner.
