If you are new to digital photography or Linux, there are several programs for managing and tweaking photos. The Linux photo management software we are briefly looking at in this article is F-Spot, gThumb, and Picasa. If you are interested in just editing images, there is the feature-rich GIMP.

F-Spot Photo Manager is designed for the GNOME desktop as a personal photo manager. Some of the basic functionality includes cropping, rotating, resizing photographs, and basic color adjustments. F-Spot also has a time-line slider for easily viewing photographs from a specific time, which uses the photograph's EXIF data. F-Spot supports burning images to a CD or uploading them to photo-sharing sites such as Flickr, Picasa Web Album, and Gallery. Another feature of F-Spot is creating tags for photographs in Favorites, People, Places, and Events sections.

This photo organizer is open-source and is written in C#, being powered by Mono on Linux.
