The reported version of DeviceVM's SplashTop we were running was version 1.0.1.6. The SplashTop.com website is mentioned in various places, but right now, their website isn't even up. Their website is password-protected until October 10, when it looks like they will officially announce this new product.

That's about it for everything that DeviceVM's SplashTop / ASUS Express Gate currently supports. There is no Linux virtual terminal or anything else to that effect. Though once SplashTop is officially introduced and these P5E3 Deluxe motherboards actually start shipping, hopefully we will learn more about the internal workings of this instant-on Linux desktop. Since SplashTop is Linux-based, we do look forward to seeing the open-source GPL code as well. We had tried accessing the local data once we were inside Fedora 7 on the hard drive, but that was to no avail.

As was mentioned earlier in the article, when first hearing about this feature on the ASUS P5E3 Deluxe we really weren't expecting it to be much more than a slapped together very lightweight Linux distribution. Well, we were really blown away by this instant-on Linux desktop and its well-rounded feature-rich environment. DeviceVM has done an exceptional job and we hope to see SplashTop adopted on more ASUS motherboards and from other vendors as well. The developers of SplashTop clearly invested some time into this solution.
