Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
While the Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 has been around for about nine months, it remains an affordable and competitive processor for desktop users and gamers. The Core 2 Duo E6400 can be found for about $190 USD retail, which is roughly the same price as AMD's Athlon 64 X2 5600+. We have been using different Intel Core 2 Duo parts at Phoronix now since they were introduced last year, and we are very pleased by their Linux performance as well as overclocking capabilities. With virtually no effort, we had run the E6400 at 2.80GHz with ease when using the ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard. The E6400 can go much further when using water cooling solutions such as those by Swiftech or Thermaltake.
