Examination:

The actual flash memory for the OCZ Trifecta is a 1GB (or 2GB) microSD memory card. For those that haven't used or seen microSD cards before, it has a form factor of 15 x 11 x 0.7 mm! This smallest memory card format to date is based upon SanDisk's TransFlash. The OCZ microSD card then can plug into the side of the Trifecta SD adapter. This adapter complies with Secure Digital specifications and just extends the interface of a microSD card. A microSD to SD adapter is not new and has been available with any microSD card being able to work in such an adapter. However, using the OCZ Trifecta SD adapter it can also be plugged directly into a USB port. One end of the SD adapter can be removed, which exposes an interface that can be inserted into any USB port. This interface is similar to the design of OCZ's Ultra-Slim MegaKart.

With the Trifecta offering this extensibility, you could take the microSD card out of your phone or PDA, then insert it into your media player or digital camera, and then insert it into computer without the use of a card reader or any other devices. This quick USB access should be extremely beneficial for those always on the road or are constantly losing your memory card reader. The Trifecta SD is backed by OCZ Technology's five year warranty.
