While the official release notes were not too exciting, these drivers should prove to be an important point in ATI's history. As can be seen by the supported Chipset list for fglrx with the Radeon X2300HD, R600 support is actively being worked on for the Linux drivers. The 8.33.6 display driver also contains proper X.Org 7.2 support along with Linux 2.6.19 support and its usual share of bug fixes. Unfortunately, the fglrx 8.33.6 display driver had not shown any signs of performance improvements. The driver fun for the year is only starting to heat up.

Additional information and support for the ATI Linux drivers can be found on the Phoronix Forums.
