Examination:

One of the initial characteristics we had noticed about this router when pulling it out of its container was its size; this router is relatively enormous. For comparison, the ASUS WL-500g Premium is almost twice the size as the D-Link DGL-4300. The router's exterior is white while on the sides is a metallic accent. The LEDs on the device are amber. At the rear of the device are four LAN ports, one WAN port, one reset switch, two USB 2.0 ports, one EZ-Setup switch, and DC power input. The WL-500g Premium only supports using a single external antenna.

Unlike the D-Link DGL-4300 and a few other Gigabit routers, the LAN ports on the WL-500g Premium are limited to 10/100 transfer speeds. The USB 2.0 ports are for attaching external hard drives, supported web cameras, and printers. As implied by the name, the EZ-Setup allows the automatic (and effortless) configuration of the device by simple pushing this button. At the bottom of the ASUS router are the device's feet as well as mounting holes if this will be placed against or underneath any surface.
