Continuing again to benchmark these latest ATI Linux drivers we had loaded up the fglrx 8.26.18 and compared them against the previous 8.25.18 version. For these tests, we once again turned to the Lenovo R52 with its ATI Radeon Mobility X300 64MB. One of the features that was supposed to make its way into the 8.26.18 drivers, but never ended up occurring, was support for Fedora Core 5 through integrating some of the package changes by Livna developers. This has yet to occur; however, an automatic installation of the fglrx drivers will yield success, or even using the Livna RPMs. The only problem with a stock installation of the ATI drivers on Fedora Core 5 is a library problem with libfglrx_pp.so.1.0 and aticonfig, unless running it as su -. Contrary to some problems users have reported in the past, we have been able to successfully run the fglrx display drivers with FC5 x86_64 SMP.
