Steam Survey For July 2016: Linux +0.02%
Valve has published their monthly Steam Hardware/Software Survey results, including the Linux vs. macOS vs. Windows breakdown.
There's still not much movement in the Linux gaming market-share according to Valve. For July 2016 they peg it at 0.82%, or a +0.02% increase over the month prior. For many months now the Steam Linux numbers have been hovering in this 0.8~1.0% range with not much change and still well off the original highs closer to 2%.
As Linux gamers in the forums will be quick to point out, the Steam Survey doesn't show for SteamOS / Big Picture Mode currently (then again, Steam Machines don't appear to be selling like hot cakes) and some argue that the Steam Survey doesn't show as often for Linux users as those under Windows.
While Linux is at 0.82% for July, the macOS numbers come in at 3.4% and Windows came in at 95.69%. The various flavors of Ubuntu Linux continue to be most popular for Steam Linux gamers.
