Free Software Foundation Calls PDF Done
The Free Software Foundation has removed GNU PDF from their list of high-priority projects, since libpoppler and other open-source PDF viewing solutions have matured and support the PDF ISO standard.
Matt Lee of the Free Software Foundation announced earlier this week from their web-site that this high priority FSF project has been removed from their list since the mission is complete. The foundation cites libpoppler as an open-source library supporting modern PDF features like annotations and forms as now being good enough to mark GNU PDF off their list.
Maybe now they can finally get moving on their open-source PowerVR driver project, which is also deemed of high importance due to the abundance of devices on the market using PowerVR graphics. However, this project really hasn't achieved anything yet since the Free Software Foundation has marked it as a high priority.
Other high priority projects include Gnash (open-source Flash), Coreboot (a free BIOS), a free software replacement to Skype, free software video editing, a free Google Earth replacement, automatic transcription software, GDB reversible debugging, free software drivers for network routers, and others.
