Linux 2.6.37-rc4 Kernel Released On Schedule
While Linus Torvalds spent most of last week in Japan meeting with other Linux kernel developers, the Linux 2.6.37-rc4 release is right on schedule, one week after releasing Linux 2.6.37-rc3. There are more changes found in this fourth release candidate than would be anticipated for this time in the release cycle, but the overall churn isn't too bad and there are a few notable fixes.
Found in this latest test version of the Linux 2.6.37 kernel are updates to the tile architecture and the SiS frame-buffer console driver, which are significant in terms of code line count. However, more notable is a fix for an NFS read directory regression and there are also a number of Btrfs file-system fixes. Though the Btrfs fixes don't look too major where they would change the Btrfs file-system performance.
The release announcement for the Linux 2.6.37-rc4 kernel can be read at LKML.org.
