Unigine Heaven 2.1 Brings OpenGL 4.0 Support
Last week we exclusively reported that a Unigine Heaven update was imminent with proper OpenGL tessellation support for NVIDIA GPUs on Linux. Today Unigine Heaven 2.1 has been released with this support, among other improvements.
Unigine Heaven 2.1 on Windows now supports the OpenGL 4.0 specification for taking advantage of the official tessellation extension. Both the proprietary drivers from AMD and NVIDIA support OpenGL 4.0 with supported graphics cards (the AMD Radeon HD 5000 series and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 400 series) and OpenGL 3.3 for the older GPUs. However, bugs in the ATI Linux Catalyst driver currently prevent the tessellation support in Unigine Heaven from working well.
Beyond the OpenGL 4.0 / tessellation support, the Unigine Heaven 2.1 update brings minor optimizations and stereo 3D support. The stereo 3D support by Unigine currently includes the anaglyph, separate images, 3D Vision, and iZ3D modes.
