X Server 1.6 isn't being released until next month but the latest Git snapshot of it plus a slew of other updated X.Org packages have just made their way into the Jaunty repository for Ubuntu 9.04.

The second alpha release of Ubuntu 9.04 will be released later this week with the updated development X Server, an updated Intel driver, the Nouveau driver, a revised evdev driver, the latest Radeon and RadeonHD drivers, and dozens of other X related packages. The list of updated packages committed this month can be found on jaunty-changes.

This is good news for those interested in DRI2 support, RandR 1.3, DDX support for the latest ATI hardware, and an arsenal of fixes. In the Jaunty Jackalope repository currently is a snapshot of Mesa from earlier this month that's tracking the Mesa 7.3 developments to provide the latest OpenGL support.
