Phoronix Test Suite 1.0.4 Released
If you're looking at running some Linux benchmarks over the weekend, you'll want to check out the latest release of the Phoronix Test Suite. We've released version 1.0.4 this morning and it contains mostly new suites and tests.
The new tests in Phoronix Test Suite 1.0.4 are for fio, Triangle Slammer, and a video extensions test. The fio test is a popular open-source disk benchmarking test that has been added into the Phoronix Test Suite with support for emulating the Intel IOMeter File Server Access Pattern and example network jobs. Triangle Slammer is a simple OpenGL benchmark, but unlike the other tests it's written in the Perl language and measures the OpenGL triangle performance (this test profile is named trislam).
The third new test profile in this release is video-extensions. This test profile builds mplayer with XvMC and X-Video support and then attempts to play a short sample video using the GL, GL2, X-Video, and X-Video Motion Compensation extensions. The results for whether or not the video had played successfully are then reported in a pass-fail type graph.
The new suites are called computational, memory, database, opengl-demos, and opengl-workstation. These five new test suites are self-explanatory and just makes it easier for a user to benchmark different areas of the system if they don't have the time to run the entire universe suite.
When it comes to the PTS External Dependencies support, the following test dependencies were added: libaio, perl, perl-opengl, and xorg-video.
In addition, this release has a glxinfo parsing fix within pts-core, the fract test profile has been fixed and brought into a verified state, another new test option has been added to x11perf, and there is a trivial configuration file update to the ut2004-demo test profile.
