After Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, the next title id Software is working on is called "Rage", which will use id's next generation game engine called id Tech 5. While id Software has been loyal in porting native clients of their past games such as the Doom and Quake series over to Linux, questions have arose whether Rage (id Tech 5) will be ported to Linux. id Software has stated that it will be available for Windows, Mac OS X, and the consoles. We have attempted to reach id Software's Linux guy, Timothee Besset, but he has not answered our questions pertaining to id Tech 5 on Linux.

We imagine Rage / id Tech 5 will be ported to Linux for a native client, but no official confirmation has been made. A German website is also reporting that id Tech 5 for Linux may not happen. Though as we shared last week, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars using id Tech 4 (Doom 3 engine) with MegaTextures will have a native client and has entered a private beta. On a side note, Unreal Tournament 3 for Linux has also been confirmed.
