Facebook's Hack Language Making Progress To Advance PHP
Earlier this year Facebook launched the Hack language powered by their HipHop Virtual Machine (HHVM) and being based off PHP. Good progress is being made on enhancing the language with interest in the project continuing to grow inside and outside of Facebook.
Posted to the HHVM web-site was a message by Facebook's Josh Watzman about recent updates to HHVM and Hack. In particular, there's growing interest in the language and many features have been added.
The new Hack features are going to be documented more at length in future HHVM blog posts, but among the list of new items for Hack include typechecking new static(), interface requirements, trait requirements, first-class enums, OS X support, covariance support, and a nullsafe operator.
Those wishing to learn more and follow Hack's development can stop by the HHVM blog.
