KDE Frameworks 5 Is Due Out Tomorrow
KDE Frameworks 5 is due out tomorrow on 8 July.
KDE Frameworks 5, the next-generation version of the KDE Platform that is more modularized than the former kdelibs, is expected to be released on Tuesday after it was originally scheduled for release back on 1 July. The official release of KDE Plasma 5 is meanwhile expected around the middle of the month (15 July). Details on some of the KDE Frameworks 5 changes can be found via the KDE Wiki.
Jonathan Riddell of Kubuntu meanwhile shared today that the KF5 release is still on track for tomorrow and the Kubuntu packaging is going well. The KDE Frameworks 5 packaging for Kubuntu is almost all set and is expected to be uploaded in the (K)Ubuntu 14.10 "Utopic Unicorn" archive this week. Plasma 5 packages for *buntu users is also being made available with the latest code -- following in the foot-steps of the Project Neon PPA from months prior.
For non-Ubuntu users, the new code is quickly available on Arch Linux. Through Fedora's Copr repositories are also some early KF5 packages while KF5 is officially coming to Fedora 21 later in the year. Stay tuned for more KDE Frameworks 5 details tomorrow.
