Linux 3.16-rc1 Kernel Released
As anticipated, the Linux 3.16-rc1 kernel was released on Sunday night.
Linus Torvalds announced 3.16-rc1 after the two week merge window, with one of the weeks overlapping with the final Linux 3.15 work. "Things look normal, and if anything, this is one of the bigger release windows rather than on the smaller side. It's not quite as big as the merge window for 3.15, but it's actually not that far off."
The Linux 3.16 kernel contains a ton of great improvements as covered this weekend within the new features and changes of Linux 3.16. Benchmarks of Linux 3.16 in its current Git development form will begin in the coming days.
