Linux Mint 16 Officially Released, Using Cinnamon 2.0
The Linux Mint crew has released version 16 "Petra" of their popular Ubuntu Linux derivative which ships the MATE and Cinnamon 2.0 desktops.
Linux Mint 16 is the project's latest six-month release based atop Ubuntu 13.10. There's a flavor of Linux Mint featuring their own GNOME 3 derived Cinnamon desktop environment and also another spin feature the MATE GNOME 2 fork. Improvements in Linux Mint 16 beyond what's provided by the newer Ubuntu 13.10 packages include USB stick improvements, log-in screen improvements, system improvements, artwork enhancements, and the other usual distribution release-to-release churn.
More details on Linux Mint 16 can be discovered via the project's blog.
