LINUX KERNEL
A week has passed since the previous release candidate so Linus Torvalds has now tagged the Linux 3.8-rc7 kernel. This latest kernel release still isn't as quiet on development activity as he'd like, but it's getting better.

Last week Linux complained about the size of the kernel for this late into development of the Linux 3.8 kernel and this week it looks like the development tide is still rather high. "It still hasn't been as quiet as I'd have preferred."

As far as the kernel changes, Torvalds notes for Linux 3.8-rc7, "Mostly driver updates (usb, networking, radeon, regulator, sound) with a random smattering of other stuff (btrfs, networking, so on. And most everything is pretty small."

The release announcement for Linux 3.8-rc7 can be found on the Indiana LKML archive.
