Egosoft Gets To Releasing Their Games On Linux

Back in November, Egosoft expressed interest in bringing their games to Linux over Steam, and now this effort is becoming a reality. X3 Reunion is in beta under their in-house porting efforts.

Per this Egosoft forum thread, their in-house Linux porting work is going along well and there's public betas surfacing, right now for X3 Reunion. Egosoft in past years did have Linux clients of their games like X2 The Threat and X3 Reunion, but that was an externally contracted effort by Linux Game Publishing.

Last year, LGP's agreement with Egosoft ended, as LGP is fading away into irrelevance, and now Egosoft has decided to take their Linux work internally to the company.

This is yet more good news for making 2013 the year of Linux gaming.
