LINUX KERNEL
Here's some of the improvements that the Intel open-source Linux graphics driver will see with the Linux 3.9 kernel release.

Per Daniel Vetter's email message about drm-intel-next for 3.9, the first round of Intel DRM driver changes to be merged include:

- seqno wrap fixes and debug infrastructure
- some leftover kill-agp on gen6+ patches
- hotplug improvements
- clear fb when allocated from stolen, avoids dirt on the fbcon
- Stolen mem support, one of the many steps to get to real fastboot support.
- Some DDI code cleanups.
- Some refactorings around lvds and dp code.
- some random little bits & pieces

The prominent changes for end-users of Intel Linux graphics would be the hot-plug improvements plus the stolen memory support as they still work towards the "Fastboot" support.

More changes are still likely to happen for the Intel DRM driver in the Linux 3.9 kernel. The Linux 3.8 kernel is only part way through its development cycle and more Intel (along with Radeon and Nouveau) driver changes are sure to queue up in the weeks ahead.
