Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9 Upgrade Is Out

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9 was officially released on Tuesday. Hitting RHEL 5.9 also marks the start of Production Phase 2 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 as part of the company's 10-year life-cycle.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9 features new hardware support (particularly for new and forthcoming Intel/AMD server hardware), support for FIPS with dmraid root devices, new developer tools like OpenJDK 7 and improved SystemTap, a new rsyslog5 package, Samba 3.6, Microsoft Hyper-V driver integration, better Red Hat subscription management, and an assortment of other features.
