Overgrowth Publishes Linux Game Teaser
If you're not busy with going through the extensive Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge Linux test results (the Ivy Bridge Linux Mesa graphics results will be out in the next few hours), here's some Linux gaming news for today.
Published to the private forums today for the native Linux port of Overgrowth is a Linux teaser video. As reported last month, Overgrowth for Linux is almost ready.
Overgrowth is the work of Wolfire Games that is currently in a preview state after being announced for years ago. This third-person action game features fighting rabbits, wolves, and other animals. Overgrowth succeeds Lugaru.
Embedded below is the Linux teaser for Overgrowth. The performance at times is choppy and there are still a few outstanding issues, but overall the Linux port is coming together.

In other Linux gaming news, the Humble Bundle Botanicula Debut continues to progress. With ten days left, this latest "Humble Indie Bundle" recently passed a half-million dollars. At the time of publishing this multi-platform, DRM-free, pay-what-you-want bundle has taken in $522k USD from 59,260 purchases. This sets the average purchase price at $8.82 overall, though Linux gamers on average are paying $11.47.
On the topic of Linux games on Kickstarter, this topic continues to be discussed at length in the forums.
However, the best news this week is likely yet to come; it will hopefully be a phenomenal week. Tomorrow (24 April) is when there will hopefully be some interesting news to share on Phoronix concerning the long-awaited Steam client and Source Engine for Linux.
