Fedora 25 Scheduled For Release On 8 November
While Fedora 24 isn't even out the door for a few months, due to the recent delay they have decided to already begin plotting the Fedora 25 schedule.
The Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee today looked at their Fedora 25 scheduling options and decided to go for a short development cycle. Fedora 25 is now scheduled to be released in early November while Fedora 24 isn't even coming out until early June.
The tentative release schedule for Fedora 25 under its short development period puts a massive rebuild in July, Fedora 25 Alpha on 23 August, Fedora 25 Beta on 4 October, and the official Fedora 25 final release on 8 November.
Great, as a happy Fedora user, what a wonderful birthday present! That is, assuming the release happens on schedule. Fun fact: Fedora Core 3, Fedora 8, and Fedora 16 were all released on November 8. It actually makes it a bit unique since out of the 23 releases of Fedora (Core) Linux, there's been no other date of the year that's seen multiple Fedora releases happen on it. Now if Fedora 25 is released then, it will be the fourth time that's happened and coincidentally on my birthday.
This Fedora 25 schedule was among three being considered with the other ones looking at a long development cycle where F25 wouldn't have even been released until January of 2017 or the third option of releasing in December. The schedule talk happened in this FESco ticket and the schedule for 8 November was approved at today's meeting.
