Fedora 22 To Use Libinput On X.Org, Change Console Font & Have Local DNS Resolver

Besides deciding to stick to Fedora 22's time-based release schedule, the Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee also approved some new features for Fedora 22.

Beyond the decision to try to release on time rather than delay F22 to accommodate a mass rebuild for GCC 5, etc, the FESCo meeting on Wednesday decided:

- The new default console font change was approved for F22.

- The Lohit2 Odia Telugu self-contained work for improving Indian fonts was approved.

- A default local DNS resolver was approved for Fedora 22.

- Boost 1.58 libraries were accepted for Fedora 22.

- GHC 7.8 was accepted for Fedora 22 to update the Haskell support.

- Ruby 2.2 was accepted to go into Fedora 22.

- Disabling root log-ins by default for SSH was NOT approved. Though there's some focus now on rather than explicitly disabling SSH root log-ins to only allow it if using an SSH key rather than a password.

Not yet decided upon by FESCo are Fedora 22 features for RPM-OSTree for atomic upgrades, using the Gallium3D D3D9 state tracker with Wine, and there's been some other proposals too. Some recent action on the Fedora devel list is for GNOME's Nautilus improvements and new notifications for the GNOME Shell -- potential work items by Red Hat developers for GNOME 3.16.
