Debian Dropping SPARC Support
While Debian supports many CPU architectures, it's working to remove support for the Sun/Oracle SPARC architecture. As of this weekend, Debian has dropped SPARC from their unstable, experimental, and jessie-updates archives.
Debian developer Joerg Jaspert wrote a few days ago, "As sparc isn't exactly the most alive architecture anymore, not in jessie and unlikely to be in stretch, I am going to remove it from the archive this weekend. (This does not block it coming back as sparc64!) To be even more precise, it will get removed from: unstable experimental jessie-updates new byhand."
The Debian SPARC support will remain in released versions of the operating system.
Jaspert made good on his word and indeed did the SPARC removal this weekend.
