AMD Quietly Updates AMDGPU-PRO Driver: 16.30.3-315407
There's a new AMDGPU-PRO driver update now available for Ubuntu users.
Before getting too excited, the updated driver remains in the 16.30 series and thus doesn't appear to be any significant update. The 16.30 series has been what's been used by the public AMDGPU-PRO driver since the RX 480 premiere. In going over the release page, it appears the main change is that the Radeon RX 470 is just acknowledged as being supported.
Aside from that, this AMDGPU-PRO 16.30.3-315407 driver continues to just target Ubuntu 14.04/16.04 officially. This hybrid driver stack exposes OpenGL 4.5, OpenCL 1.2, Vulkan 1.0, and VDPAU.
I'll be running some tests locally but so far it doesn't appear to be much of an update. If you are interested in giving it a go, visit AMD.com. I'll also be using this driver for my upcoming Radeon RX 470 Linux tests.
