  • fglrx hangs on gdm..black screen... :-(

Hi... I've a problem with the ati drivers....

With the 8.42 and 8.43 too, when I boot my fedora 8, doesn't display gdm.....and hangs with a black screen.... before it was random... now avery boot....
I fix (everytime) this, booting in single mode, editing fglrx--->vesa and rebooting........ the drivers works.... but: games crash...
I'm sure that fglrx work, because glxgears goes faster than radeon drivers, and 2D is much more faster.

    My config:

    Ati Radeon X1050 DDR2 (256MB) 128bit AGP
    asrock AM2nf3-vsta

    fedora 8
    Code:
    # Xorg configuration created by livna-config-display

    Section "ServerLayout"
    	Identifier "single head configuration"
    	Screen 0 "aticonfig-Screen[0]" 0 0
    	InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
    EndSection

    Section "Files"

    EndSection

    	Option "DPMS" "true"
    EndSection

    	Identifier "aticonfig-Screen[0]"
    	Device "aticonfig-Device[0]"
    	Monitor "aticonfig-Monitor[0]"

    	SubSection "Display"

Your card is a renamed X550, you can uninstall fglrx and use ati driver in xorg.conf.

Yes I know... but the radeon driver (the open source) it's slower (amsn scroll, flash videos, etc)

karlpiuemeno, what type of screen do you have? if it's a crt that might be the issue.
