    Just do extract, eliminate the buildpkg argument.

      Ok, extracted and extracted fglrx_panel_sources.tgz. ran make. I got one error saying it couldn't find lGL. Sorted it out, ran make again and got no obvious errors

      Then tried the installer again. Nothing about file not found, just the same as posted recently.

        Ok, being the idiot I am I figured that maybe uninstalling the previous installation might help. Anyway, I did that and tried the installer but got the old firegl thing again. So I extracted the installer, extracted fglrx_panel_sources. Ran make and I'm getting the following.

        /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lGL
        collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
        make: *** [fireglcontrol.qt3.gcc4.1.1] Error 1
        I remember this popping up before, here
        Technical support and discussion of the open-source AMD Radeon graphics drivers.

        So I followed that and just changed it slightly so I had
        ln -s /usr/lib/fglrx/libGL.so /usr/lib
        but got this

        ln: creating symbolic link `/usr/lib/libGL.so' to `/usr/lib/fglrx/libGL.so': File exists
        Any ideas?

          The easiest resolution may be waiting for the new driver this week, which has updated packaging scripts for Fedora that will fix that issue.

            Ok thanks. Let's just hope that doesn't bring up a whole load of new errors! I noticed in one of the other forums this certain command, and I'm wondering if what I have is correct or if I'm missing something.

            ldconfig -p | grep GL
            libQtOpenGL.so.4 (libc6) => /usr/lib/libQtOpenGL.so.4
            libGLw.so.1 (libc6) => /usr/lib/libGLw.so.1
            libGLU.so.1 (libc6) => /usr/lib/libGLU.so.1
            libGLU.so (libc6) => /usr/lib/libGLU.so

              I have been using the new scripts for the new driver for over a month; it shouldn't present any new problems.

                I was just wondering though what your output for ldconfig -p | grep GL was.

                Also, if I can't solve this now, should I install the livna drivers for the moment, since technically I don't have anything for my graphics card, on the next boot I won't have a GUI.

                    lol. Ok, wasn't really sure what I would do with it. I would have been worried if the output was the same but because it isn't, then that makes me think I have something missing. How I go about doing that though is something I don't know.

                    I'm got the livna drivers installed for the moment and will wait until the new ATI drivers are released and will see what happens.

                    Cheers.

                      Ok, I have things working once more with the new drivers (8.35.5). Had to do a few things with the xorg files and now everything seems to be running well enough.

                      The only thing that seems to be of slight concern is the following.
                      cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "EE"
                      (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
                      (II) Loading extension MIT-SCREEN-SAVER
                      (EE) AIGLX error: dlsym for __driCreateNewScreen_20050727 failed (/usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so: undefined symbol: __driCreateNewScreen_20050727)
                      (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
                      glxgears, fgl_glxgears and google earth all seem to work fine. I have AIGLX and Composite off in my xorg.conf so I'm not really understanding why that is appearing. But it's working for the moment.

                      I just thought I should ask, when I get a new kernel update, do I just rebuild the packages or do I uninstall first by using sh ./fglrx-uninstall.sh in the /usr/share/ati diirectory and then build the packages?

                      Thanks again for the help.
