  • KDE 4 [Poll What Desktop Environment Do You Use?]

Has anyone had any experience with KDE 4? I'm starting to look at upgrading, but Gentoo having it hard masked kinda scares me off to wait until it's more mature.

if you expect it to 'just work' - wait at least for 4.1.

if you can deal with misfunctionality, bugs and crashes - go for 4.0.

I was running e17 for years, so I'm used to having some bugs around. Also, running Gentoo, I'm used to having to tinker with things to get them to work. I heard there were some advantages, some bugs and some missing features in 4.0. I do find that a surprising amount the eye candy available is actually useful (pretty much everything but animations that aren't user feedback), but I'm wondering if it's missing any features I use or if there are enough bugs to make it unusable.

Is there anyone with KDE 4 experience that can comment on its current functionality? I'm downloading the OpenSUSE live CD to try in a VM, but I'm sure that will have a lot more hardware issues than running it directly.
