            the next issue is some sort of memory allocation issue

                  Ha, maybe the current lack of games, in combination with the prospect of games is actually a GOOD thing! Now we can all use the free drivers, providing user testing before they will need to be able to handle serious gaming. If a huge gaming industry existed for Linux today, nobody would even think about using the free drivers. In short: the free drivers are being developed exactly at the right time.

                  • Nah, I think that OpenGL3 games would drive people to hack on Mesa.

                    Right now, almost everything works on free drivers already, so there is not as much incentive to do all the dirty work needed (which is only needed by a handful of apps anyway).
