    Are these still the best option for mythtv using 10.6
    card is 5450

    Option "VideoOverlay" "off"
    Option "TexturedVideo" "on"
    Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"

    I know theres been some 2d advances, all i really care about is video for htpc.

      Not sure what version 10.6 is, looks like mythdora version. As long as that release uses xorg-server > 1.5 you don't need any of these options in your xorg.conf file. radeonhd and ati(radeon) drivers will automatically select TexturedVideo for output. Just make sure that mplayer default video output is xv, this can be done throught ~/.mplayer/config file vo="xv".

      BTW, I found that the ati driver has a better anti-tearing code and therefore smother HD playback.

        I think that he is talking about the proprietary Catalyst drivers.

          Those options basically worked with older drivers (and chips), therefore i have em in comments still there in the xorg.conf when you use my script (it is still possible to install older drivers). Basically R600+ cards can only use TexturedVideo mode.
