  • Strange Problem of fglrx on Fedora 7

    Michael Help Me!!

I am using ATI 9550 card..I installed the fglrx 8.39.4 driver with Xorg 1.3.0.0-9 on my Fedora 7(kernel 2.6.21-1.3228),when system begins to start xorg, my screen shows "No signal" then the screen turns black..
I checked the Xorg.0.log,nothing wrong (EE) shows in that log file..

I downgrade Xorg to version 1.2 and reinstalled the 8.39.4 driver ,problem's the same.

I uninstalled fglrx 8.39.4 and installed 8.38.7,then the driver works fine..

    what is the problem??
Nothing goes wrong when the Xorg starts and loads the fglrx driver, but why there is no signal???

    Please Help Me!

    Sorry for my poor English...

I have run into this issue as well and I know of no workaround at this point other than using X server 1.2 + 8.38 or using the Avivo driver. Users are being advised to not use the 8.39.4 display driver.

I tried ,but the problem is still there.
this new rpm from livna doesn't help..

I decided to change my video card to Nvidia..
I can't endure the ugly, stupid driver from ATI..

I swear,I will never use ATI video card until AMD makes a wonderful driver for it!!!

Got the same problem with an ATI Radeon 9600. I haven tried the livna RPMs but this is what I got after installing the ATI driver from the ATI site. Looks like an AGP problem to me as this is what I have in /var/log/messages:
