    Damn!

I've got the IRQ Error with 7.11, 7.12 fixed it for me.
To get 7.12 working i've had to set the AGP Aperture Size from 512MB to 256MB.
Since these changes, my system is running smoother and smoother from release to release.
I'm using Debian/lenny with a custom kernel(i'll send the config via pm if somebody want's it. )
Some agp-module experiments showed that the internal fglrx-agp isn't working for me:
(EE) fglrx(0): [agp] unable to acquire AGP, error -1023
    (EE) fglrx(0): cannot init AGP
(EE) fglrx(0): atiddxDriScreenInit failed, GPS not been initialized.

If i use the nvdia_agp module everything is running fine.
You got it working with the nvidia agp driver??? I'd never thought of trying this.
If it works for you I'll try it!
    But does it enable DRI?
Can you play any 3d games?
what does the error: (EE) fglrx(0): atiddxDriScreenInit failed, GPS not been initialized. exacly mean? what does GPS stands for?

well, send me your .config, or if possible paste it somewhere and put the link here.

Brigdman, what do you think about it?
is there any problem in using the nvidia_agp driver/module?

bridgman, I was already aware of that (I found your post about it in some other thread - though, this is still not mentioned in the release notes). It just seemed that this thread was asking me to post the above information =)

p.s. if you need any help in beta testing or whatever then I'd be happy to help in that way, otherwise I think I'll just be quiet and wait

          Spec's:

Video Card: ATI x1650XT (AGP) 512MB
          Monitor: LCD Monitor; 1440x900
          Motherboard: Intel Mobo D865GBF
          Processor: Intel P4 HT 3.0
          Memory: 1024 MB
          Distro: ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy)
          Kernel: 2.6.22-14
          Xorg: 7.2-5ubuntu13
          fglrx: 8.45.4 w/ catalyst 1.8
          AIGLX works fine*

Usually update fglrx along with monthly releases. Might pass this month just because I already did the daemon workaround.
*Compiz works fine except for the firefox scrolling issue (not too noticeable). Don't play games, but downloaded one out the repo, ran it, and had flickering while Compiz was running. Runs smooth without Compiz. Let me know if there's anything I can add.

nittanylion, did you check Xorg log for any errors?
If there is any error I'd appreciate you post here for exchange of information.

Following are errors and warnings from Xorg.0.log. Bear in mind that I've only been using ubuntu for a few months, so they could very likely be from my own screw ups.

                  hi,

i don't know what the error "(EE) fglrx(0): atiddxDriScreenInit failed, GPS not been initialized." means, i haven't searched for it, because it runs with nvidia_agp, so it doesn't bothers me whats with the internal agp

I uploaded my kernel .config to http://88.80.200.100/config-2.6.23-uzi-1.10
The original kernel version is 2.6.23.8 and DRI is deactivated as well as framebuffer support.

The only warnings i get are the AIGLX visual thingies, no errors at all.

Additionally Compiz-fusion works perfectly for me just tested it out. Also scrolling appears fine. I'll have to see if there is any flickering in opengl apps.
                    Edit: Etqw flickers.

Just for record, 8.02 doesn't work with 3d accel, too.
