Phoronix: KDE 4.11 Will Be The Last Major KDE4 Workspaces Feature Release

4.11 will be the last feature release of the plasma-workspace (and plasma-netbook). Bugs will be fixed.
Development of all other components (PIM, games...) will continue the same.
There WILL be further KDE SC 4 series releases. the blog mentioned up to 4.13, but it might be above that. Only no new features will be added to the workspace.
    Just to clarify.

So when will we finally get KDE 5.0 with Qt5?

It will be released when it is ready. (Hopefully in the not too distant future)

Current roadmaps are shooting for early next year.

          Otherwise git.

              Never ever.
Idiots like Michael and you just are too stupid to understand that since four years KDE is just the name of a community and that the KDE community releases three distinct product bundles:
              Plasma Workspaces, Applications, and Frameworks.

After 4.11 those three won't even be released on the same date any longer.

Calling people idiots over a technicality that only you seem to care about is a bit uncalled for... KDE products are usually (if not, always) released sharing a similar version number. I don't think we're going to see a 4.11 workspace mixed in with a 5.0 framework and a mix of 4.0 and 5.0 programs, so what's your point? It isn't idiotic or unrealistic to expect KDE 5 as a whole to be the next release after 4.11, and wondering when it will be released is a legitimately good question.

Just for clarity in future they will be very different. For example after KDE Plasma Workspaces 4.11 comes Plasma Workspaces 2.0 that's based on KDE Frameworks 5.0. KDE Applications 4.12 could very well be based on KDE Frameworks 5.0. After that the release schedule will be different for KF5, Plasma Workspaces, KDE Applications...

KDE is the community. KDE Software Compilation (SC) has been the product since 4.4. After Qt5&KF5 there will no longer be SC but rather multiple "modules" with different release schedules and such. There will never be "KDE 5.0" or "KDE SC 5.0". Anyhow the stable Qt 5 ports for all KDE modules are to be expected for the early next year I think.

No, it is very idiotic. Just for a change stop guessing and read Aaron's blog post. This aspect is explained there in detail! And yes, a mix of 4.x applications, Workspaces 2 (not 5), and Frameworks is expected!
