    How come hdparm asks for the sudo password on each test run?

    It doesn't.

    However, you need to run it as root because it does memory locking and also calls some priviledged ioctls. But it doesn't ask you for the root password. Unless your distro uses a modified hdparm which does that.

      PTS automatically prompts for the root password when running the hdparm benchmark since it knows ahead that it does for this test to run.
