    Linux is the only thing that even works on old and slow hardware. Try putting a windows 7 or 8 on a pentium 3... you're lucky if you get it to boot. Meanwhile there are plenty of lightweight Linux distros focused on older hardware that work and run great with no problems.

    Ubuntu isn't one of them though...

        gott any proof that Canonical is profitable in the server market? the Desktop is slowly Dying, why would they want to become profitable there? its all Mobile now an thats a fact. just lookk at Firefox with there FirefoxOS an Mobile Browser, its where its all going

            yeah i do. its called GOOGLE, im sure you have heard of that before . Google dont care for the Desktop. even Microsoft have started to realise Money is now at ipads , smartphones etc. Unity ( Ubuntu ) is made directly for Touch screen devices , same with Gnome-shell.

                windows 8 is not proper converge...
                it might be in a few months tho when they finally allow to run "modern" apps in window mode and bring start menu back.
