Default ARM SoC Changes Merged For Linux 3.15 Kernel

Phoronix: ARM SoC Changes Merged For Linux 3.15 Kernel

There's continued work with the Linux 3.15 kernel for bettering ARM hardware support on Linux, but overall there isn't anything overly exciting by the SoC changes this merge window...

ARM is a mess, there is no standardization, all socs have their own way to boot and initialize and do things.
No image works across ARM boards, you need separate spins for each image with a custom kernel compiled for that specific ARM board. Oh, and the GPUs are mostly proprietary.

I am looking forward to Intel's offering. Low-power x86 64-bit chipsets with GPU that has open source drivers. Works on all x86 images, no custom spins needed, no custom kernels.

This is precisely what the multi-platform kernel support wants to address.

Yes, those will be very interesting. But let's not forget that Intel's current offering of smartphone SoCs all have PowerVR graphics still.
