Default Engineering versus marketing names (universe)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_...rchitecture%29
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fermi_...rchitecture%29
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kepler...rchitecture%29
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxwel...rchitecture%29

The latter is a redirect to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_800_Series should it be redirected to 700 series?

Wouldn't it be better, if marketing would to hell and only the engineering names would exist? Too simple?

    Red face

As happy owner of this card (bought by recommendation from Michael article), I'm looking forward for the Nouveau support of this card. Don't get me wrong binary driver provided by NVIDIA is light years ahead of anything currently on Linux, I'm very happy with the performance and stability, but they know that this is not the way, closed source driver on open source operating system is pointless, I hope AMD will ditch their binary blob and support only radeonsi driver, and nvidia will try to follow probably with pain but this is what Linux consumer want and Linux + gaming is becoming the next big thing.

No, more likely it's to bash their heads against the wall to bring them back to their senses and make a logical connection between the architectures and numbering schemes.

Hypocrisy spotted. Why are you using it then? Why are you using NVIDIA cards then?

(I would be more lenient if you contributed to Nouveau in one way or another)

If AMD follows that sentence carefully, this means r600g (pre-SI cards) get no support except from the community. We would like to see some improvements for these cards too.

The "consumer" wants "Linux" + proprietary gaming, so they don't care. Don't try to make it sound like you care about that.
