I know you use HDparm to facilitate the read tests in the universe suite but it would also be useful to have a test that also checks out the write performance. Writing performance for example on a board with a SB700 southbridge is 1/2 of what other chipsets get for speed with it's broken NCQ support. IOzone might be a better benchmark to have in that suite.
