it starts with that you cant download any iso file or such stuff from the website, even they dont sell the iso or the cd they sell the lisence + key.

activation etc... so come on installation of ubuntu is way waaayyyy less problematic than installing windows.

Thus you cannot infer anything about the intelligence of the user from the operating system on their computer.

(My experience has indeed been that most mainstream Linux distributions are indeed easier and quicker to install than Windows, barring the increasingly rare case of incompatible hardware.)

I did not say that I say people that use windows are dumber, except maybe in the mean people who use linux are smarter I am shure.

But that was not the question, I just said if people got installed a ubuntu from somebody because they are not able or they belive that they are not able to install it their own, are to a higher change less intelligent than people who install it themself.

The chance is higher that their IQ is lesser not that every single one is more stupid. And btw it was more like a quick idea collection what COULD be the reason for having so much ubuntu users on wikipedia, because I thought the numbers could not be representing the real distro-market-share. But we found at least bigger reasons that explain them so this reason is less likely a big point if even a point. (like that each mint user gets registrated as ubuntu user in this log).

So maybe I am wrong at this point, like I said that was not the point, it was just a random guess in the search of reasons.

UPDATE: it was just a random thought, even if I am right here, I dont think that dumb people really use wikipedia more. I think at least you know a way to get your information, what is again a sign of intelligence. (no 100% proof again)

Yeah, yeah. Elitism is the word. Shall we now proceed to prove our intellectual superiority by quantifying our collective knowledge of operating systems, Linux in particular, thus making explicit how much more awesome we are than all the sorry muggles who have never even compiled a kernel?

Bleh, I'm too tired to do even sarcasm very well, sorry.

its maybe wrong to mention something like that, again it was not my intention to go to deep down this route, but ok...

But that makes my sentences not wrong. its just true that linux got used first basicly only on universities more or less and from students... and even today the linux-usage rate on universities is shurly higher, and again the mean iq from students is most likely higher than the iq from non-academic people.

You maybe dont like it that people talk about that but it is still the truth.

The funny thing is it's people who can't even write properly who say shit like that.
And by funny I mean as in ridiculous.

I once thought I was smart just because I could make my own OS (at least it boots!), something very few people are capable of doing. Then I went to understand that I wasn't that special; the really smart people are mathematicians and physicists (and perhaps philosophers). So no, being able to code whatever you imagine (being good with computers) does not make you special.

So can I do 'emerge gimp' on ChromeOS to get gimp for example? Or can I install ANY open source app on it using any method without hacking it first? If not, then it's not GNU/Linux.

    Here's my point of view:

    http://cromalternativemoney.org/inde...d-institutions

In this computer era where, despite abundant freedom of choice between Windows, Linux or something else, all operating systems at the end behave identically according to pre-installed BIOS components, the point is not which computer is better to use, but first of all do we need to bother with this machines at all. Fascism, communism, capitalism, socialism, democracy included, from first to last these are all systems built on one and the same motherboard - the state. It is not mentioned anywhere and nobody speaks of it, but choosing the lesser evil is not the only option. If "good" is not on the list of offered options, why choose anything at all in the first place?

Depends what you define as hacking: http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/...on-base-images
